Mark, Scott Joseph

ELKHART - Scott Joseph Mark, 52, whose appetite for cooking white-plate dinners for neighbors and family was surpassed only by his hunger for knowledge, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2018.
Scott was born March 12, 1966, to Arlene (Goshen) and George Mark (deceased) in Elkhart, where he was raised. He was a lifelong member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church, where he and his wife, Summer, were youth sponsors and he often baked communion bread.
He excelled at taking things apart, putting them back together better, reading, getting lost on family trips, helping others and pithy comments. His five-person bike made it possible for the whole family to tour together. He was loyal to his extended family, loved his children and was generous to a fault.
Scott’s first paid work in his field was to write an article for a computer programming magazine (including code samples) before he could drive. He worked with both punch tape and punch cards as a youth. He coded a complete custom financial accounting system for hire before he graduated high school.
Scott attended Goshen College and received his BS and MS in Computer Science from Purdue University. At Purdue, Scott worked with the Shadow Lab networking group (they wrote the book on TCP/IP). He was employed by Miles Laboratories (later Bayer) from 1991 to 1999 as an embedded systems programmer for medical instruments.
In 2000, Scott became an independent consultant. In this capacity he worked on Proton Therapy Cancer Treatment Centers. He led the validation effort for the first Proton Therapy Treatment Center in the Midwest. His clients included Indiana University Cyclotron Facility in Bloomington, Midwest Proton Radiotherapy Institute, ProCure Proton Therapy Centers, Massachusetts General Hospital and CNAO (the first Proton Therapy Treatment Center in Italy). He sat on the International Standardizations Board for the Communications between hospital systems for Radiation Oncology (IHE-RO).
Scott and his former wife, Summer Mark, are parents of Anne, John and Brian. Susan Mark Landis (Dennis), David Mark and Paul Mark (Kim) are his siblings.
A private service and burial will be held. Scott’s last act was to send flowers to a fellow patient. Give flowers in his name to those you love, but the family asks that donations go to Heifer International.

Martin, A. Jeanette Myer, 88, of East Petersburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, Jeanette was the daughter of the late Samuel and Emily Arment Myer. She was the loving wife of the late Raymond L. Martin who passed away in 2008. Jeanette was a member of Hempfield Church of the Brethren where she served as a Deaconess and a Nursery attendant. She was employed by S. Clyde Weaver where she worked in the bakery for over 30 years. Jeanette loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving is a son, Ronald E. husband of Cynthia Graybill Martin, of Lititz, a daughter, Beverly wife of Jeffery L. Moyer, of Manheim, three grandchildren, Sonya wife of Jason Widders, Kyle husband of Kimberly Martin and Stephanie Moyer, six great-grandchildren, Chase, Tyler and Logan Widders, Caleb, Leah and Eli Martin, and a brother, Richard Myer of Pottstown. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Wesley Moyer and two brothers, Robert and Jay Myer.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Jeanette's memorial service at The Hempfield Church of the Brethren, corner of Stevens Street and Metzler Road, East Petersburg on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Martin, Allen S., M.D., 1930-2018
Allen S. Martin, M.D., Goshen, formerly of Shipshewana, died Sunday morning, Dec. 9, 2018, of natural causes, in Anderson. He was 88. Born, June 2, 1930, in Wakarusa, he was the 12th of 17 children born to Joseph E. & Mary (Shaum) Martin. He married Ruth E. Nussbaum Jan. 4, 1955, in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. She died June 17, 2014.
Allen retired as a physician in Lagrange County, Indiana, in 1994. After serving 1-W (alternative service) with the Mennonite Board of Missions in Puerto Rico for two years, 1953-1955, he studied at Eastern Mennonite College and graduated from Goshen College in 1959. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1965. Following an internship with Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, he began his medical practice in Shipshewana, where he served patients in LaGrange County for 29 years, assisting with the births of more than 3,000 babies during his career and providing medical services to patients in multiple communities because of his fluency in German, Pennsylvania Dutch and Spanish. He served as LaGrange County health officer from 1978 to 1991, and as county coroner/medical examiner as well as being one of a group of doctors who led LaGrange County Hospital (now Parkview LaGrange Hospital). He was very proud to have helped implement the EMS system for LaGrange County and train the first EMTs for state certification. In retirement, he served as medical director of the New Eden Care Center, Topeka, and volunteered his medical services at the Center for Healing and Hope, Goshen.
Outside of his professional life, Allen loved baseball, bird watching and golf. He developed an interest in bird watching at a young age when he and his siblings memorized the appearance and songs of various birds, and he spent many hours building Purple Martin birdhouses. He was a skilled woodworker, building furniture and cabinetry for family members, a longtime cattle farmer and breeder, and avid amateur golfer. While he loved the game of golf, it was the time he spent with friends and family members on the links that he truly cherished. On travels with them, he was blessed to play golf in Ireland and Scotland and on many of the best golf courses in the world.
He is survived by six children: Anita Martin (Russ Vernon), Yorktown, Indiana; David Martin (Debra Charles), Knoxville, Tennessee; Rebecca Martin (James Picht), Hudson, Ohio; Rachel Stutzman (Steve), Topeka, Kansas; Jerry Martin, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Linda Martin Burkholder (Brian), Harrisonburg, Virginia; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. In addition, four siblings survive him: Edna Brubaker and Miriam (David) Hoover, both of Goshen; Rhoda Martin, New Paris; and Ben (Carol) Martin, New Market, Virginia. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Mary (Baer) Martin, Goshen; and Thelma (Hoover) Martin, Goshen; and a brother-in-law, James Bechtel, Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth (Nussbaum) Martin, and 12 of his siblings: sisters Barbara Brubacher, Susannah Ramer, Ida Ramer, Emma Ramer, Bertha Martin, Grace Shirk, Ruth Brubaker and Suetta Bechtel; and brothers Daniel, Naaman, Jason and Rufus.
The family is grateful for the care and friendship shown by staff and residents of Waterford Crossing, who affectionately knew him as “Doc” during his six years residing there. They also wish to thank the caregivers at Morrison Woods health center, Muncie, and Elmcroft of Muncie Assisted Living for their care during his last few months.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Dec. 22, 10:30 a.m., at College Mennonite Church, Goshen. Visitation with the family will be Friday, Dec. 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m., also at College Mennonite Church.

Martin, Ammon Weaver, 81, of 805 Green Ridge Road, Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 9:25 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2018, surrounded by his family at his home.
Ammon was born Feb. 3, 1937, in Narvon, Lancaster County, a son of the late Elam K. and Lydia W. (Weaver) Martin. On Jan. 17, 1957, in Lancaster County, Ammon was united in marriage to Mary N. Hoover, who passed away on June 14, 2006.
He moved to Union County in March 1973 and became engaged in farming which he did until his retirement.
He was a member of Vicksburg Old Order Mennonite Church.
Mr. Martin is survived by six sons and five daughters-in-law, Nelson H. and Rebecca N. Martin, of Wisconsin, Clarence H. and Edith N. Martin, of Iowa, Reuben H. Martin, of RR1 Middleburg, Alvin H. and Ella F. Martin, of New York, Stephen H. and Rhoda R. Martin, of Wisconsin and Daniel H. and Naomi R. Martin, of Middleburg; seven daughters and five sons-in-law, Ella Mae and Norman N. Martin, of Lewisburg, Lydia Ann Martin, of Mifflinburg, Elva H. and Amos Z. Brubaker, of Middleburg, Arlene H. and John David Hoover, of Iowa, Erla H. and John Isaac Hoover, of Kentucky, Erma H. Martin, of Mifflinburg and Anna Mary and Esra O. Zimmerman, of Winfield, 60 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and three sisters and one brother-in-law, Lydia W. Sensing, of Kutztown, Elva Brubaker, of Stevens, and Bertha and Elam Leid, of Kutztown.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Mary Ella Martin; one sister, Ellen W. Martin; and five brothers, Aaron W. Martin, Harvey W. Martin, Alvin Martin, Floyd W. Martin, and Marvin W. Martin.
Family and friends will be received by the family at the Martin home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018, and Wednesday, May 2, before the time of the service. Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, at the Martin home, 805 Green Ridge Road, Mifflinburg. Further services will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Vicksburg Old Order Mennonite Church, Beaver Run Road, Mifflinburg, with the church's home ministry officiating.
Interment will be in Vicksburg Old Order Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Landis Martin, Lawrence Brubaker, Luke Ray Martin, Ammon Lee Zimmerman, Harvey Martin, and Herman Hoover.

Martin, Anna Mary Martin, 101, of Narvon, PA went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, March 4, 2018. Born in East Earl, on December 29, 1916 she was the daughter of the late Jonathan and Mattie (Sensenig) Martin.
On October 24, 1946 she was united in marriage to D. Walter Martin with whom she shared 43 years of marriage. To this union were born nine daughters and one son. Rosene Martin of Ephrata, Rachel wife of Henry VanZee of Stevens, Anna Mary, Lucy, and Daniel Martin of Narvon, Nancy wife of Leon Zimmerman of Narvon, Martha wife of Noah Burkholder of Dundee, NY, Rebecca wife of Leonard Martin of Memphis, MO, Bertha wife of Elvin Sensenig of Reinholds, and Elsie wife of Lawrence Zimmerman of Orrstown, PA. Also surviving is a step son, Edwin Z. husband of Esther Good Martin of Denver, and a step daughter-in-law, Alma Martin of New Holland; 29 grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 38 step great-grandchildren, and seven step great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Miller wife of the late Sidney Miller of Illinois, and a brother-in-law Aaron K. Martin of Ephrata. She was preceded in death by her husband, a step son Paul Z. Martin, a grandson Christopher Sensenig, two step granddaughters, Carolyn W. Martin and Mary Jane Bange (Jay), four great-grandchildren, sisters, Lydia Snyder, Emma Stauffer, and Susan Martin, and brothers, Henry, John and Aaron Martin.
She was a member of the Bowmansville Mennonite Church where she supported her husband in his ministry as a deacon. She was lovingly cared for by her children, Lucy and Daniel in the house she resided since marriage in Bowmansville.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 913 Oaklyn Drive, Narvon, on Thursday, March 8, at 9:30 A.M. with Bishop Leon S. Zimmerman, Bishop Amos G. Martin and Ministers John Martin and Marlin Lauver officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. A Viewing will be held at the Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Road, Ephrata, PA, on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Martin, Anna W. Martin, 95, Elkhart, IN, died at 10:45 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2018 after a short illness. On May 31, 1922 in East Earl, PA, she was born to the late Amos & Magdalena Martin. On Nov. 1st, 1942 in Churchtown, PA, she was married to Paul Z. Martin, who preceded her in death on Sept. 27th, 2002.

(Frances) Martin, Terre Hill, PA and Reuben (Lena) Martin, Ephrata, PA, 82 grandchildren, 316 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren and 19 step-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband, daughter, Magdalena Zimmerman in 2002, grandson, John Larry Zimmerman in 2000, a son-in-law, Levon Martin in 2001, 1 great-grandchild, 9 sisters and 1 brother.
Anna was a member of the Old Order Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 17th from 2-8 p.m. at the Ramer Mennonite Youth Building, 24647 CR 44, Nappanee, IN. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 18th at 10 a.m. at the Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church, Goshen. Burial will be in the Yellow Creek Frame Cemetery.

Barbara Eshleman Martin, 73, of Lebanon, PA, passed away in the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, PA, after 3 months of declining health. She was the wife of Earl Martin. She was born in Lancaster on December 3, 1944, a daughter of the late Paul and Alice Eshleman Weaver. Barbara was a member of the Miners Village Mennonite Church in Cornwall, PA.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Lorraine Zimmerman and husband Harlan of Lebanon; Jay E. Martin and wife Marilyn of Ephrata; Glenn L. Martin of Lebanon; six grandsons, one granddaughter; sister, Carol Martin and husband Eugene of Lititz; step-sister, Esther Herr and husband John of Ephrata; foster sister-in-law, Shirley Habecker of Manheim. She was preceded in death by a step mother, Anna Mae Weaver and foster brother, Ronald Habecker.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. in Miners Village Mennonite Church, 108 Rexmont Road, Cornwall, PA. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Martin, Brian Roy, 19, Goshen, flew home Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 3:39 p.m., after fixing the skid loader one last time.
Waiting to make their flights are, his parents, Brent and Glenda Martin, Goshen, brother, Brad Martin, at home, sisters, Shari (Doug) Weaver, Goshen, Heather Martin, at home and Jill Martin, at home, maternal grandmother, Edith Martin, Goshen, paternal grandmother, Rhoda Martin, Nappanee, 2 nieces, Brylie Weaver and Kabrea Weaver and Heather’s special friend, Kevin Weaver.
With him at home are his Grandpa’s, Roy Martin and Charles Martin.
Brian was a farmer at heart from the time he could talk and loved children. Nothing made him happier then driving his tractor with his special little riders, Tirzah, Lydia and Caleb Heisey, and many others. He adored his two nieces and after church he always had children around him. He also loved fixing things and his family doesn’t know how they’ll manage without him.
He was baptized at Cornerstone Mennonite Church, April 30, 2017 and wasn’t ashamed to stand for what he believed.
Brian loved people and could talk with anyone. He enjoyed going to youth and looked forward to camping with his family every summer.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 15, at 1-9, at the RMYC, 24647 CR 44, Nappanee. His funeral will be Monday, April 16, 2018, at the RMYC, at 10:00 a.m. Home Ministry will officiate and burial will follow at Cornerstone Mennonite Church Cemetery. Martin, Carol D. Brubaker, 53, of Denver, passed away unexpectedly at her home of natural causes on Monday, March 5, 2018. Her husband of 34 years, Clair M. Martin, survives.
Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of the late Elam G. and Beatrice A. (Fox) Brubaker.
Carol operated her own home cleaning service.
She was a long-time member of Hinkletown Mennonite Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and helped with the Grief Share support group for many years. She was known as a prayer warrior and an encourager, with a heart for people. Additionally, she was involved with release time at Brecknock School.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children: Mike married to Joscelynn Martin, Ephrata and Michelle Martin, Golden, CO; three grandchildren whom she loved spending time with on a regular basis: Easton, Ricky and Ali; a brother Jay N. married to Cindy (Nolt) Brubaker, Kenly, NC and brother-in-law Ed Weaver, Denver.
She was preceded in death by a sister Sandy Weaver and a brother Jeff Brubaker.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Hinkletown Mennonite Church, 2031 Division Hwy., Ephrata with Pastors Glenn Sauder, Gerald Fox and Jerold Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Thursday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. and on Friday from 9 – 10 a.m. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill is in charge of arrangements.

PANDORA, Ohio - Charlotte L. Martin, 89, of Pandora, formerly of Goshen, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018.
She was born Feb. 4, 1929, to Jacob David and Irene (Hartman) Ramer.
She married Paul E. Martin on Sept. 5, 1948.
She is survived by her daughters, Ann Wisler, Carolyn F. Martin, and Valerie King; two sisters, Catherine Endersby and Margaret Schrock; 13 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Paul; sons Elwin and Gregory Martin; great-grandson Caleb M. Lawton; and brothers Milton and John Ramer.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, with service at 1 p.m. at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen.
Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery.

Martin, Clair S., 68, of Fairmount Homes, Ephrata, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018, after a brief illness. Born on March 26, 1949 in Ephrata, PA, he was the son of the late Norman M. and late Elizabeth R. (Sauder) Martin. Formerly of Frystown, PA, Clair spent a lot of happy hours on his garden tractor. He loved spending time with family and friends. Born with Cerebral Palsy, he was lovingly cared for by his parents before moving to Fairmount Homes in April 2008. He was a member of the Martin's Mennonite Church, Marion Township, Berks County.
Surviving are three sisters, Janice S., wife of Luke Nolt, Ephrata, PA; Pauline S., wife of Merle Gingrich, Richland, PA; and Marie S. wife of Lloyd Zimmerman, New Holland, PA. Also surviving are ten nephews, Milford Nolt, Ephrata, PA; Matthew Nolt, husband of Shelah, Ontario, Canada; Michael Nolt, husband of Rose, Mifflinburg, PA; Wesley Gingrich, husband of Kendra, Myerstown, PA; Delmar Zimmerman, Ephrata, PA; Glendon Zimmerman, husband of Rachel, Denver, PA; Gary Zimmerman, husband of Donna, Newmanstown, PA; Lowell Zimmerman, New Holland, PA; Myron Zimmerman, husband of Angela, Phelps, NY; Marcus Zimmerman, New Holland, PA; four nieces, Karen Gingrich, Sheila Gingrich, Darla Gingrich, all of Richland, PA; Lori Zimmerman, New Holland, PA, seven great nephews and ten great nieces. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 9:30 AM in Martin's Mennonite Church, 765 Church Road, Womelsdorf, PA. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Martin, Clyde Dean, 27 of Manheim passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Lancaster General Hospital.
He was born in Honduras on February 21, 1991. He was the son of Clair G. and Erma G. (Zimmerman) Martin of Myerstown.
In addition to his parents he is survived by sisters Jenell Martin of Columbiana, OH and Carolyn Martin of Reading. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents John J. and Lena Zimmerman and paternal grandparents David and Lorrina Martin.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 2pm from the Swatara Mennonite Church, 10 Camp Swatara Rd., Myerstown, PA 17067. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at the church.
Martin, Clyde H., 99, of East Earl, passed away at home on Sunday, May 13, 2018. He had been under the care of Hospice and Community Care.
He was the husband of the late Irene Burkholder Martin who died in 2011. Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late Horace and Laura Hershey Martin.
Clyde had been a farmer and had also been employed as a school bus driver for Garden Spot School District for many years. He was a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church. He enjoyed cutting comforter patches to be used in relief work.
Surviving is a daughter, Cathy wife of James W. Martin of East Earl; four step grandchildren, Gary husband of Jewel Martin of Lititz, Randy Martin of Reamstown, Trudy wife of Anthony Martin of Denver, and Eric Martin of Ephrata; and 12 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Raymond Martin and by a sister Margaret Sweigart.

Martin, Cody B., 6, of Port Trevorton, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at home from a cancerous brain tumor. He was the son of Ronald B. and Lillian G. (Brubaker) Martin of Port Trevorton.
In addition to his parents, Cody is survived by his nine brothers and sisters, Jessica Brubaker wife of Keith, Nicole, Seth, Chad, Todd, Kendra, Bret, Patricia, and Samantha Martin, all at home; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Ida Brubaker; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Faye Martin; two nephews, Jaden and Julian Brubaker; and many aunts and uncles, and cousins.

Born in Ephrata, he was a son of the late Raymond A. and Katie (Stauffer) Martin. He was the husband of Leah (Martin) Brubacker Martin. His first wife, Mattie (Weaver) Martin, died in 1982.
Daniel was a member of Stauffer Mennonite Church, a farmer, and a store keeper.

Martin, David W., age 94, of 282 Bridgeville Rd., Narvon, PA passed away peacefully at his home, on April 14th, 2018 after a short period of declining health.
He was born January 11, 1924 in Caernarvon Township. He resided all his life in Lancaster County. David was the son of the late Henry N. and Mary (Weaver) Martin.
David was a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, (Groffdale Conference).
He enjoyed his vocation as a farmer and carpenter and in his retirement often lent a hand in numerous projects that his children were engaged in.
Surviving is his wife, Lizzie R. Martin with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage December 2, 2017.

Myerstown - David Z. Martin, 89, of Myerstown, passed away in his home on Tuesday July 3, 2018. David was born in Lancaster County, the son of the late David N. Martin and Lydia Zimmerman Martin.
He was a member of the Richland Mennonite Church and was a retired farmer and business owner. In earlier years David was a dairy and poultry farmer producing, processing and marketing eggs and milk products using the Dutch-Way Farm Market name. He also started Myerstown Storage Sheds and operated it for a number of years.
He is survived by sons Clair, husband of Erma Zimmerman Martin, Myerstown; Marlin, husband of Martha Mae Groff Martin, Myerstown; David, husband of Erma Dieffenbach Martin, Richland; Nelson, husband of Eva Jane Zimmerman Martin, Richland; Glenn, husband of Lori Zimmerman Martin, Myerstown; daughters, Grace, wife of Leroy Zimmerman, Myerstown; Nancy, wife of John Bicher, Bethel; 35 grandchildren; 84 great grandchildren; brothers, Ivan Z. Martin, Earl E., 91, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018, at Fairmount Homes.
He was born in East Earl to the late Walter and Martha (Eby) Martin and was the husband of Elizabeth M. (Petersheim) Martin with whom he would have celebrated 63 years of marriage this May.
He was a member of Red Run Mennonite Church.
Earl was a dairy farmer. He loved to hunt and sing. He sang with various quartets including the Cheerful Anthems and the Hinkletown Male Chorus. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains at the Stony Brook Hunting Club in Lycoming County where he was a charter member.
In addition to his wife, Earl is survived by 2 daughters, Etta, wife of Homer Eberly of Ephrata, Kay, wife of Joe Good of Terre Hill; 3 siblings, Wilmer Martin, Sara Zeiset, Walter Martin; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 siblings, Clarence Martin, Mary Martin, and Paul Martin.

Martin, Esther M. Sensenig, 80, of New Holland, formerly of Honey Brook, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Garden Spot Village.
Born in Ephrata, she was a daughter of the late Aaron and Emma (Martin) Sensenig. She was married 60 years on Feb. 23 to Wilmer E. Martin.
Esther was a 1955 Ephrata High School graduate and a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church where she served many years as a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Ladies Sunday School class and the Church Sewing Circle. She also enjoyed presenting monologues, reading, and doing crossword puzzles.
Surviving in addition to her husband are four children, Nelson R., married to Carol (Leaman) Martin of Honey Brook, Michael J., married to Cheryl (Gingrich) Martin of New Holland, Lyndell J., married to Donald R. Martin, Esther "Sue" Davis, 94, of Stuarts Draft, VA died August 12, 2018 at Fishersville, VA. She was born February 6, 1924 in Augusta Co., VA to George W. and Lena (Weaver) Davis. On May 30, 1946 she was married to Clinton Earl Martin, who was born February 12, 1923 and survives.

Martin, Glenn, 77, formerly of Paradise, died at the Mennonite Home on Friday, April 13, 2018.
Born in Blue Ball, Glenn was the son of the late Weaver and Frances (Martin) Martin.
He was a member of and attended Old Road Mennonite Church until he and his father moved to Mennonite Home in 1991.
In life, Glenn confronted his handicap with great zeal. He was legally blind and had Cerebral Palsy. Through the opportunity provided by Pennsylvania Society of the Blind, he secured employment at the Lancaster Post Office in the current and previous location. In earlier years at the Mennonite Home, he distributed mail within the home.
He was a man of great faith, praying for his many friends at the Mennonite Home and those who visited him. He enjoyed playing checkers and attending many activities at the home.
He is survived by a brother, Raymond married to Alice Martin of Brethren Village; a sister, Anna Martin of Landis Homes and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Martin and Arlene (Martin) Martin and two brothers, Roy Martin and Donald Martin.
There will be a Celebration of Glenn's Life on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel at the Mennonite Home, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA with Chaplain Dennis Ernest officiating. MIDDLEBURY - Gloria M. Martin, 57, of Middlebury, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
She was born April 13, 1960, to Amos K. and Lydia (Martin) Martin.
Surviving are sisters Joann Rutt, Elsie Martin, Mary Shaum and Lydia Zimmerman; brothers Greg and Alvin Martin; sister-in-law Nila Martin; and brother-in-law, Carl Martin.
She had lived with her sister Lydia and had adopted her children as her family which includes, Heidi Stoffel, Ryan Zimmerman, Jamie Van Daele and Scott Zimmerman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 1 - 8 p.m. Sunday April 1, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury.
There will be visitation from 9 - 11 a.m. Monday, April 2, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Griner Mennonite Church, Middlebury.

He was married 48 years to Mildred E. Hoover Martin. Born in Warwick Twp., he was the son of the late Frank H. and Reba E. Hoffman Martin.
Harold retired from Sauder Eggs in 2011 where he had worked for over 20 years. Prior to that he had been employed by the F & M Hat Co. in Denver.
He was a member of the Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community. His interests included gardening, trains, antique farm equipment and vacationing with his family.

Martin, Irene Smoker Martin, 89, of 122 Beacon Hill Rd., Ronks, died Monday, January 22, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Irvin H. Martin in 1999 and by her second husband Amos Z. Martin in 2017.
Born in Gap, she was the daughter of the late Elam and Elizabeth (Mast) Smoker.
Irene was a waitress for 33 years at Good 'N Plenty Restaurant.
A founding member of Christian Fellowship Church, she taught children's Sunday School and sang in the choir.
She fondly remembered reading Pilgrim's Progress to her sons when they were young. She was blessed to have many friends and recounted how the Lord had been faithful and good to her and her family.
Surviving are three sons: Wayne L. married to Glenda (Martin) Martin, Ronks; Jim I. married to Judy (Myer) Martin, Gordonville, Michael R. married to Linda (Kepiro) Martin, Lancaster; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four sisters: Naomi Byers, Strasburg, Louise married to Paul Miller, Paradise, Erma married to David Clemens, OH, and Jeanette married to Ken Eby, Akron.

Martin, Ivan R., 64, of Port Trevorton, died on Monday, March 5, 2018, at the Hershey Medical Center.
Ivan was born Dec. 14, 1953, in Kantz, Snyder County, a son of the late Ivan M. and Martha M. (Reiff) Martin. He is survived by his wife Nancy M. (Brubacker) Martin. The couple were married for more than 44 years.
Ivan was a dairy farmer and mechanic.
He was a member of Stauffer's Old Order Mennonite Church-Verdilla District.

Spencer, Tennessee – Miss Juliana Martin, 28, died Monday December 24, 2018 at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Goshen, Indiana on January 25, 1990.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Nathan Martin. She was a homemaker and attended the Woodland Mennonite Church.
She is survived by her parents, Kenton and Maryann Imhoff Martin; grandparents, Noah and Lucille Martin; sister, Magdalene Martin; brothers, Jonathan and wife Louella, Michael and wife, Geneva, Matthew and wife Vera, Murray and wife, Suzane, Daniel, Jeremiah, Nathanael and Joshua Martin.

Martin, Katie M. Martin, 86, of 530 Reidenbach Rd., New Holland, died Friday, November 16, 2018 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Martin in 2005.
Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Martin) Martin.
A homemaker, she was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving is a brother, Henry M. married to Elizabeth Z. Martin, East Earl, two step-sons: Jerre W. married to Emma H. Martin, Ephrata and John Mark married to Etta N. Martin, New Holland, 19 step-grandchildren, 54 step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three siblings: George M. Martin, Annie Martin and Hettie Sensenig, and four step-great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. at her late home with further services at 9 a.m. at Weaverland Mennonite Church with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Martin, Laban H., 85, formerly of Terre Hill, died on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Fairmount Homes.
He was married 59 years to Anna Mae Yoder Martin. Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late Jonas D. and Mariah Horst Martin.
Laban was a truck driver and retired from Lester R. Summers Trucking after 44 years of employment. He was a member of the Hinkletown Mennonite Church and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Anita wife of Dennis Gettel of Denver, and Donna wife of Kevin Gerber of Lititz; a son, Brian husband of Gretchen Martin of Bowmansville; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edgar husband of Helen June Martin of Lititz, and Elmer husband of Elsie Martin of Lampeter. He was preceded in death by an infant son and daughter, and by two brothers, Abel and Nathan Martin.

He was born in Earl Township to the late Phares W. and Margie Amelia (Stahl) Martin and was the husband of Gladys (Stauffer) Martin.

Lois E. Martin, age 92, of Nappanee, died peacefully at 9:50 p.m., Monday, November 12, 2018 at her residence following complications of Congestive Heart failure. She was born April 16, 1926 in Harrison Township, IN to Isaiah and Penola (Witmer) Ramer. Lois was a lifetime area resident. On June 6, 1948 she married Truman L. Martin in rural Nappanee. He preceded her in death September 2, 2015.
Lois was a homemaker and a driver for her amish friends. She was a member of the Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church.
She is survived by her children, Gleta Diane (John) Hauser, Almena, WI, Willodean Kay Carroll, Nappanee, Theresa (Duane) Weingarten, Hayward, WI, Dawn Renee (Lynford) Miller, Nappanee, Elwood Neal (Anita) Martin, Haiti, Burnell Roy (Lucinda) Martin, Ridgeland, WI; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert W. Martin, Lydia H. High, 92, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 in the Richland Christian Home, Richland, PA. She was the wife of the late Elam C. Martin. She was born in Fairmount, Lancaster County on June 28, 1926, a daughter of the late John S. and Amanda Horting High.
Lydia was a member of the Providence Mennonite Church. She is survived by children, E. Cleason Martin, Jr. and wife Sheri of Leola; Nelson C. Martin and wife Nancy of Myerstown; Marian A. Kozlowski of Mohnton; Jane Kelly and husband Gary Gandia of West Reading; fourteen grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; brothers, Melvin H. High and wife Anna of Donna, TX; Jacob H. Martin, Martha G. Stauffer, 93, of Port Trevorton, died on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the home of her daughter's, Catherine Martin, where she resided.
She was born Sept. 19, 1924, in Union Township, Snyder County, a daughter of the late Phares O. and Lizzie (Gehman) Stauffer. She was the wife of Ira S. Martin who preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2010.
She formerly attended Phares O. Stauffer's Old Order Mennonite Church-Union Township.

Naaman S. Martin, age 92, of Goshen, died at 1:00 am, Saturday, February 3, 2018 at his residence. He was born July 30, 1925 in Wakarusa to Joseph E. and Mary S. (Shaum) Martin. Mr. Martin lived his lifetime in this area. On October 20, 1948, he married Ruth Lahman. She preceded in death June 4, 2017. He had worked as a contractor owning Martin Construction Company in Wakarusa. He had also worked with Brown & Brown Construction. After his retirement, he built and operated at portable saw mill. Naaman accepted Christ in his youth and had served as a minister at Salem Mennonite Church. He attended Cornerstone Mennonite Church.
Surviving are his daughters, Mary Lou Wright, Goshen, Lois (Arthur) Zimmerman, Arlene (Kenny) Shaum, both of Nappanee, Loretta (David) Pence, Broadway, VA; sons, Mark (Linda) Martin, Nappanee, Owen (Wanda) Martin, Goshen, Dwight (Carla) Martin, Sundance, WY; 35 grandchildren; 93 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; sisters, Edna Brubaker, Nappanee, Miriam (David) Hoover, Rhoda Martin, both of Goshen; and brothers, Alan Martin, Goshen and Benjamin Martin, New Market, VA. Nelson Garman Martin, 54 of Mechanicsville, MD formerly of Lancaster, PA passed away on November 25, 2018 in Cheverly, MD. Born on September 6, 1964 in Ephrata, PA he was the son of late Erma W. Garman Martin and Mahlon S. Martin of Manheim, PA. Nelson was the loving husband of Greta J. Sensenig Martin of Mechanicsville, MD whom he married on July 18, 1987 in Mechanicsville, MD. He is survived by his children; Bethany Martin, Cynthia Martin, Jewel Martin, Michael Martin, Emily Martin, Joy Martin, Calvin Martin and Makayla Martin all of Mechanicsville, MD. Nelson moved to St. Mary’s County MD from Lancaster, PA in 1988. He was a mechanic for Sensenig’s Garage for almost 30 years. Serving the Lord was important in Nelson’s life. He was a member of Mechanicsville Mennonite Church where services will be held.

After retirement, he was a driver for the plain sect community.

Martin, Paul Eugene "Gene", 71, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at his residence.
He was born in Lancaster to the late J. Paul and Esther (Wise) Martin and was the husband of Esther Mae (Weaver) Martin with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Gene was a Deacon at Evangel Assembly of God and later attended the Worship Center. He was a 1964 graduate of Garden Spot High School and graduated from Penn State University in 1969 with an associate's degree in engineering. He had worked at Maxima Technologies for 40 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Renee, wife of Douglas Waage, Lori, wife of Drew Myers; a son, Nathan, husband of Jodi Martin; 10 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Rick and Troy Martin; 2 sisters, Betty Martin and Wanda Bachman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Martin.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018, from 9 to 11am, at Harvest Fellowship, 34 W. Church Street, Stevens, followed by his funeral service at 11 am, with Pastors Eugene Weaver and Rick Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the Fairview Cemetery Annex.

Our dad held the official title of pastor but in reality, he was co-pastor along with our mother Dorothy. They were pastors of Mennonite churches in many places, including La Junta and Aspen, Colo.; Johnstown, Pa.; and Des Moines, Iowa.
Our mother, Dorothy Derstine Hackman Martin, was the light of Dad's life. His favorite picture by his side in these last years was a photo of the beautiful Dorothy as she was when they met. They were married in Souderton, Penn. on Sept. 3, 1944, and she died last year on Jan. 29, 2017. They had the four of us: Ed, Roger, Laurel & Sharon. We didn't have a lot of money, but we never felt deprived. We were rich in love, friendships and life experiences.
A centerpiece of our mother and dad's ministry was their inclusion of all people, including those on the fringes of society. Our home was open to everyone, and we as children were enriched by the steady stream of guests for Sunday dinners and holiday meals. Things didn't have to be perfect to include a last-minute addition to the table.
Dad set a powerful example for us in the way he practiced acceptance of all people. He didn't feel he needed to judge whether people were part of the Kingdom or not. In addition to a broad welcome within his pastorates, he embraced ecumenical and interfaith involvements and relationships.
He had a wonderful baritone voice and loved to sing. His favorite hymn exemplifies his spirit of service and openness: Will you let me be your servant….We are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load…. I will hold the Christ-light for you in the night time of your fear. I will hold my hand out to you, speak the peace you long to hear….
Dad enjoyed his involvements in the broader Mennonite church. He was part of the beginning of Rocky Mountain Conference and later a moderator of that conference as well as of the Iowa/Nebraska Conference. He was a member of the Hesston College Board of Overseers, the Board of Education and the Board of Publications of the Mennonite Church, and the Iowa Peace Network.
He was a graduate of Goshen College, Ind., and after pastoring a number of years, obtained a master's degree from Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Ind. In his early years, he taught Bible and church history and was campus pastor at Eastern Mennonite College, Harrisonburg, Va.
He enjoyed church and family history as well as writing, interests which culminated in a number of small books. One we refer to a lot is "Jacob A. Martin, His Ancestors and Descendants."
Dad was born in Guilford Springs, Pa. to Jacob E. and Rhoda (Eshleman) Martin and was the middle of five boys -- Jacob, Mark, Paul, Joe, James -- the brothers preceding him in death.
We are a small and close family and loved him dearly. We enjoyed spending time with Dad – singing with him, sitting by his side, taking him for Sunday afternoon drives to count the Amish buggies or to the wonderful Wednesday evening hymn sings in the Sunshine Room, or just stopping by to say hi. We will miss him so much.
We are deeply grateful to the staff at Landis Homes, especially Cedar, the Cedar dining room, and Manheim House, for their love and care for our dad – singing hymns with him while doing his morning care; being patient and seeing goodness while responding to his daily needs; making a special milkshake for him at a tough time; repeating to him through his fears, "I have you, Paul, I have you. I won't let you fall."
As with our mother, Dad wanted his body to be donated to "Humanity Gifts Registry" to be used for medical education so that his death could help others.

Martin, Paul H., 97, of Lititz, Lancaster Co., PA died October 31, 2018 at the same place.
He was born March 13, 1921 at Guilford Springs, Franklin Co., PA to Jacob Eby and Rhoda May (Eshleman) Martin. Jacob was born March 22, 1893 and died June 9, 1973. Rhoda was born June 30, 1893 and died November 2, 1986.
On September 3, 1944 at Souderton, Montgomery Co., PA he was married to Dorothy Hackman, who was born January 27, 1925 and died January 29, 2017.
Surviving are children, Ed Martin (Kathy Yoder Martin); Sharon Martin Bowman (John Bowman); Laurel Martin (Jase Gehman); and Roger Martin; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was a Mennonite pastor, formerly Moderator of Rocky Mountain Conference and Iowa/Nebraska Conference, a Goshen College graduate, and had his Masters from AMBS.
Memorial services were held December 1, 2018 at Akron Mennonite Church, Akron, Lancaster Co., PA with body donated to science; no interment.
Martin, Paul Horning, 84, of Pine Grove, PA, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 in his home. He was the husband of Mildred G. Weaver Martin. He was born in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, PA, on May 16, 1934, a son of the late Henry W. and Leah Horning Martin. Paul was a retired farmer and a member of the Farmview Mennonite Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Phyllis W. Martin of Pine Grove, PA; Willis W. Martin and wife Martha of Pine Grove, PA; Wilmer W. Martin and wife Lucille of Pine Grove, PA; Esther Mae Sadler and husband Mark Ray of Pine Grove, PA; Ronald W. Martin and wife Vera of Newark, NY; Thelma W. Musser and husband Elvin of Clyde, NY; Vernon W. Martin and wife Jennifer of Pine Grove, PA; 35 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles H. Martin and wife Laura of Frystown, PA; Alvin H. Martin and wife Eva of Rutledge, MO; sisters, Leah Zimmerman and husband Levi of Rutledge, MO; Esther High and husband David of Denver, PA. He was preceded in death by nine siblings, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Martin, Pauline Zimmerman, 81, Rockingham passed away July 3, 2018.
Mrs. Martin was born June 12, 1937, in East Earl, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Harvey B. and Alice Good Zimmerman. She attended Good’s School, a one room schoolhouse, and later took evening classes at Lancaster Mennonite School. She enjoyed writing, reading and photography all of her life. She also enjoyed traveling to many places, Israel, Nova Scotia, Europe, Italy, Sicily and numerous day trips. She worked as a nurses’ aide at Sentara RMH Medical Center for 31 years, and 10 years as a switchboard operator until her retirement at age 70. She was devoted to family and babysat her grandchildren. Mrs. Martin was a member of Park View Mennonite Church.
On Sept. 21, 1958, she married R. Larry Martin, who survives.
Also surviving are two children, Dawn Marie Martin Cousins, and husband Willie H. Cousins Jr., Lacey Spring, Steve L. Martin and wife Miriam, Rockingham; four grandchildren, Amy Dawn Cousins, April Marie Cousins, Brendon Martin and Jared Martin; 13 siblings, Mary Jane (Allen) Kurtz, East Earl, Pa., Leroy (Lillian) Zimmerman, Leola, Pa., Joyce (Sam) Kulp, East Earl, Pa., Harvey (Mary Jane) Zimmerman, Ephrata, Pa., Mahlon (Carol) Zimmerman, Leola, Pa., Curvin (Lois) Zimmerman, East Earl, Pa., Richard (Betty) Zimmerman, Georgetown, Pa., Eugene (Faye) Zimmerman, Denver, Pa., Leonard (Miriam) Zimmerman, Narvon, Pa., Henry (Sharon) Zimmerman, Narvon, Pa., Margaret (Earl) Martin, Goodville, Pa., Sandra Nolt, New Holland, Pa., and Lenford (Kim) Zimmerman, Denver, Pa.; a brother-in-law, Tom Frame, New Holland; and many nieces and nephews.

Peggy L. Martin, 82, life-long resident of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Saturday, February 24, 2018 at her home.
She was born on February 16, 1936 in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Paul and Katherine Burkholder Mentzer and married Clair E. Martin on April 19, 1953 at Clair's home in Shippensburg.
Peggy was the best homemaker and mother. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, and making her home a haven for others. Volunteering was an important part of her life, which she did for Shippensburg Meals on Wheels and at the Shippensburg Health Care Center. Peggy was a member of the Cedar Street Mennonite Church and taught Sunday School there for many years.
In addition to her husband of sixty-four years, Clair, she is survived by eleven children, Deborah Rotz of Shippensburg, Sheila (Melvin) Lehman of Guys Mills, Stephen (Sandy) Martin of Shippensburg, Denise (Richard) Frey of Wisconsin, Gary (Jess) Martin of Carlisle, Lisa (Lamar) Diller of Chambersburg, Andrew (Karen) Martin of Texas, Wade (Lara) Martin of Chambersburg, Chris (Penny) Martin of Shippensburg, Adam (Evie) Martin of Shippensburg, and Wesley (Jenna) Martin of Chambersburg; thirty-one grandchildren; fifty-six great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Mentzer of Georgia; sister, Betty Jean Binner of Shippensburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Terry Rotz; and two brothers, Robert and Michael Mentzer.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 AM, on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at the Rowe Mennonite Church, Shippensburg. Ministers Larry Lehman, John Horst, and Allen Lehman will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be no public viewing. A time of visitation will be held concurrent with a meal following the services on Tuesday at the church.

Martin, Phyllis Heatwole, 79, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018, after bravely and graciously fighting cancer. Phyllis went to be with Jesus at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Jan. 20, 1939, in Augusta County, the daughter of the late Alvin and Reba Heatwole of Waynesboro.
She was the wife of Garland Martin, married June 14, 1958, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Together they raised two sons on their farm in Stuarts Draft. Phyllis and her husband helped to plant Greenmonte Mennonite Church and were members there for over 60 years, where they faithfully served together.
Throughout her lifetime, Phyllis had many different roles within the community. She was a school bus driver, dental receptionist, retirement home and middle school cook and department store clerk. But most importantly, she dedicated her life to serving Jesus and those around her. In addition to teaching children's Sunday school, she volunteered her time by serving on the Virginia Mennonite Board of Missions, and being a children's caregiver for MOPS.
In her spare time, she liked to quilt, sew and cook for her family and many friends. One of her favorite yearly traditions was baking over 100 pies and donating them to the Mennonite Relief Sale, where she also served as chairman of the Food Committee. This was a true expression of her servant's heart. Her most favorite pastime was spending time with those she loved. You could often find her cheering in the stands at a granddaughter's soccer game or hosting family dinners at her home. She loved being known as "Grandma Phyllis," not only to her own granddaughters, but to the children at church as well. Because of the way she served and loved others so genuinely and personally, she made everyone feel like they were a part of her family.
Survivors include her husband, Garland Martin; two sons, Michael Martin of Stuarts Draft and Rodney Martin and his wife, Renee, of Stuarts Draft; four granddaughters, Rachel Lester, Rebekah Dooley, Rayah Martin, and Rissa Martin; and three sisters, Janeth Duncan and husband, Phillip, Rosalie Moyer and husband, Ronnie, and Alvina Roth and husband, Rich; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Springdale Mennonite Church, 170 Hall School Road, Waynesboro, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018.
Following a private family burial, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at Springdale Mennonite Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, with Pastor Seth Hankee officiating.

Martin, Reba M. Dagen, 91, of Lititz, and formerly of Manheim, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Landis Homes. Born in Strasburg, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Florence Lefever Dagen. Reba was the loving wife of the late Carl D. Martin who died in June of last year. They were happily married for 69 years. In her early years Reba helped her husband on the family farm in Penn Township; later she was employed by Richard M. Heagy Foods, several Deli's, and at Darrenkamps Market in Mount Joy. For over 70 years Reba was an active and faithful member of Hernley Mennonite Church, Manheim, where she helped with Sunday school and Bible school. She also volunteered at the Columbia Re-Uzit MCC Thrift Shop, and Landis Homes. Reba was a kind, caring, and loving person with a life-long passion for her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons: Larry E. husband of Ruth Ann Hess Martin of Manheim, Leon L. husband of Diana Reichenbach Martin of Manheim, Marlin J. husband of Doris E. Kready Martin of Elizabethtown, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two brothers: Jacob L. husband of Mabel Dagen of Lititz, and Lester L. husband of Evelyn Dagen of Willow Street. Preceding her in death is a brother, Paul L. Dagen and a sister-in-law, Lois Dagen.

Martin, Rosene M., 70, of Ephrata, formerly of Narvon, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Fairmount Homes after a lengthy illness.
Born in Ephrata, she was a daughter of the late D. Walter and Anna Mary (Martin) Martin.
Before her retirement she had been employed at Martin's Pretzel Bakery and at a cafeteria at Green Dragon. She had also taught many years at the following private schools: Good's, White Oak, Valley View, Farmersville Mennonite, and Hillside Special Education. Before her teaching career she was employed at Shirlee's Manufacturing in Terre Hill as a sewing machine operator.
She was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church, Weaverland Con-ference.
Surviving are two brothers and eight sisters, Edwin Z., husband of Esther (Good) Martin of Denver, Daniel Martin of Narvon, Rachel, married to Henry VanZee of Stevens, Anna Mary Martin of Narvon, Lucy Martin of Narvon, Martha, married to Noah Burkholder of Dundee, NY, Nancy, married to Leon Zimmerman of Narvon, Rebecca, married to Leonard Martin of Memphis, MO, Bertha, married to Elvin Sensenig of Reinholds, and Elsie, married to Lawrence Zimmerman of Orrstown; a sister-in-law, Alma (Wenger) Martin of New Holland; and 38 nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents is a brother, Paul Z. Martin.

Born in Terre Hill, Pa., Russell was the son of Amos L. Martin and Frances M. Horst Martin, and the husband of Rebecca O. Ringler Martin, married March 21, 1985. He was a member of the Rushville Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference, and was a farmer.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Rebecca, are six children Marie and Tim Fox, Clinton and Kristina Martin, Reba Martin, Justin Martin, Sara Ann Martin and Jay Lamar Martin; eight grandsons and three granddaughters; parents Amos and Frances Martin; 13 brothers and sisters Mervin and Annetta Martin, George and Edna Martin, Ella Mae Martin, Linus and Irene Martin, Esther and James Reiff, Mark and Edna Martin, Ernest and Annetta Martin, Edward Martin, Raymond and Mary Kathryn Martin, Frances and Sam Brubacker, Peter and Dorcas Martin, Magdalena and Aaron Horst and Anna and John Loren Weaver.
Russell was predeceased by his parents-in-law Amos and Esther Ringler.

Martin, Samuel W., age 94 of Ephrata, fulfilled the desire of his heart as he passed from this life to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Fairmount Homes following a short illness.
He was born in Voganville on January 22, 1924, to the late Samuel S. and Annie (Wenger) Martin and was the husband of the late Floy Elaine (Kreider) Martin who passed away in 2001.
He was a charter member of the Cocalico Church of the Brethren since 1959, where he served as a life deacon and a Sunday School teacher.
Samuel was self-employed, first as a dairy farmer in Clay Township and later as a carpenter/contractor/cabinet maker. He was a charter member of the Ephrata Area Young Farmers and actively supported Teen Haven and Christian Aid Ministries. He enjoyed spending time in his wood shop building furniture and turning wood. He also loved visiting with family and friends.
Samuel is survived by 4 children, Carol Anne, wife of James Loewer of Eunice, LA, Rev. Glenn R., husband of Joann (Ebersole) Martin of Lititz, Nancy L., wife of Melvin Landis of Lititz, Curtis L., husband of Dolly (Kilheffer) Martin of Palmyra. He was greatly appreciated and loved by his 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Doris (Kreider) Horst of Ephrata.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eli and infant brother, Harvey Martin and 4 sisters, Elizabeth Martin, Magdelena, Anna and Clara Martin.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 6 to 8 PM at the Middle Creek Church of the Brethren, 351 Middle Creek Church Road, Lititz. An additional viewing will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 9 to 10 AM at the church followed by funeral services at 10 AM at with Bros. Sarah was a homemaker and a seamstress.
Sarah is survived by sister-in-law, Miriam Martin of Port Trevorton and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Martin was born February 24, 1959 in New Holland, PA. He was a farmer and member of the Fairview Mennonite Church where he served as Bishop. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phares Zimmerman Martin and Martha Hoover Martin; his brother, Warren Martin and one grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Martin of Pembroke, nine sons, Michael (Emma) Martin, Mervin (Amanda) Martin, Daniel (Alma) Martin all three of Elkton, Wayne (Frances) Martin Jr., Lawrence Martin, Marlin Martin, Titus Martin, Elam Martin and Phares Martin all of Pembroke; three daughters, Bertha (Titus) Hoover, Mabel (Jerry) Hoover both of Pembroke and Mary (Ervin) Martin of Trenton; five brothers, George (Esther) Martin of New Holland, PA, Samuel (Ella) Martin of Leitchfield, KY, Andrew (Kathryn) Martin of Elkton, Jerry (Verna) Martin and Phares (Lucy) Martin both of New Holland, PA; six sisters, Grace (Amos) Hoover of East Earl, PA, Susan (Paul) Hoover of Ephrata, PA, Frances (Allen) Hoover, Martha (Aaron) Hoover both of Leitchfield, KY, Janet (John) Martin of East Earl, PA and Anna Martin of New Holland, PA, and 11 grandchildren.
Martin, Wilmer E., 81, a resident of Garden Spot Village, New Holland, formerly of Honey Brook, died Thursday, August 2, 2018 following a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Esther M. Sensenig Martin who died January 1, 2018. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Walter S. and Clara (Zimmerman) Martin.
Wilmer was a retired farmer. He was a lifelong member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church and had been a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, Phillies baseball and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving is a daughter, Lyndell J. wife of Donald Good of Ephrata; three sons, Nelson R. husband of Carol (Leaman) Martin of Honey Brook, Michael J. husband of Cheryl (Gingrich) Martin of New Holland, and Steven D., married to Anna Mary (Esh) Martin of New Holland; 12 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; four brothers, Walter C. husband of Velma Martin of New Holland, Charles husband of Gloria Martin of New Holland, Sanford Martin of Ephrata, and Linford husband of Elaine Martin of Middlebury, IN; and two sisters, Marlene wife of Leon Martin of Ephrata, and Miriam wife of Leonard Zimmerman of Narvon.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6 at 11 am at Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community, 210 Weaverland Valley Rd., East Earl with Brian Martin, Leon Hurst, and C. Mast, Aaron Leroy, 79, of Schuylkill Haven, PA, died on Friday, August 3, 2018 in the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont, PA. He was born in Chester County on November 3, 1938, a son of the late Raymond P. and Anna Mary Sensenig Mast. He was married to Ruth Elaine Sensenig Mast for 59 years. In his youth he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was a faithful member of the Conservative Mennonite Church. Aaron worked as a cabinet installer for many years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Kenneth Mast and wife Linda of Tamaqua, PA; Lloyd Mast and wife Dawn of Hollywood, MD; four daughters, Margaret Ebersole and husband Wilmer of Bellingham, MA; Nina Wadel and husband Braden of Chambersburg, PA; Orpha Baltozer and husband Thomas of Springfield Center, NY; Phyllis Eby and husband Nathaniel of Schuylkill Haven, PA; 40 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clair Mast of Denver, PA; Michael Mast of Harrisonburg, VA; Ernest Mast of East Petersburg, PA; two sisters, Anna Grace Stoltzfus and husband Elvin of Lititz, PA; Verna Clemmer and husband Wesley of McClure, PA. NAPPANEE - Anna H. Mast, 95, of Nappanee, passed away peacefully at her home, Saturday, June 2, 2018.
She was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Nappanee, to the late Joseph and Mary Hochstetler.
On Nov. 21, 1944, she married Andrew J. Mast. He passed away July 31, 2008.
Surviving are her children, Marvin (Carlene) Tualatin, Allen (Norma), Ernest (Debbie), Mary Carpenter, Mattie (Mark) Chupp, Miriam (Brian) Hartman and Naomi (Aaron) Yoder; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and brother Levi J. (Sue) Hochstetler.
She was preceded in death by her son, Joe; two infant granddaughters; three brothers; and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 8, and funeral at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, all at Maple Lawn Amish Mennonite Church, 29267 C.R. 52, Nappanee.

Anna Mast, 92, of Goshen, formerly of Middlebury, died at 2:30 pm, on Thursday, April 12, at Greencroft Health Care Center, Goshen. She was born on October 2, 1925, in Kosciusko County, to John W. and Sarah (Miller) Yoder. On October 15, 1946 in Elkhart County she married Daniel I. Mast; he died November 23, 2012.
Surviving are four daughters, Rose Mary (Robert) Claassen of Lawrence, KS, Judy (Leroy) Hunsberger, Anita Acord, Cherylan (Scot) Shearer all of Goshen; son, Dannie W. (Loretta) Mast of Goshen; eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, Katie Stutzman, Lydia Nash and Barbara Yoder, six brothers, Jerry, William, Henry, Jonas, John Edward and Nathanial Yoder.
Anna was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church where she was active in the Sewing Circle. She was also active with the Women's Bible Study Fellowship and assisted with the Bible
Memory at Camp Amigo. She enjoyed playing games, quilting, gardening and embroidery. She had worked at Krider's Nursery and Gohn Brothers in Middlebury. Anna and her husband had wintered in Sarasota, FL for several years. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 4:00 pm on Sunday April 15, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury. The family will hold a private burial prior to the 11:00 am memorial service on Monday April 16, at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Pastors Tyler Hartford and Ron Deiner. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to Bible Memory Camp or

Mast, Esther Nolt, formerly of Manheim, PA, passed away on August 11, 2018 in Red Lake, ON, Canada at the age of 80 years old. She will be greatly missed by her husband, John, children Dwayne (Laura) and Glenda and her four grandchildren.

Esther has entered Eternal Glory and will be dearly missed by her husband John of 44 years, children Dwayne (Laura) and Glenda Mast, siblings Ben (Diane) Nolt, Dottie (Tim) Weber and Mark Nolt, as well as her grandchildren Eliana, Ava, Olivia and Zander.

LAGRANGE - Janie Grace Mast, infant daughter of LaVon and Karen (Lambright) of LaGrange, was stillborn Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at New Eden Care Center, Topeka.
Surviving in addition to her parents are grandparents Ernest and Mary Etta Mast of LaGrange, Vernon and Erma Sue Lambright of Topeka; and great-grandparents Glen and Louella Mast of Topeka, Elmer and Katie Mast, and Fred and Elsie Yoder, both of LaGrange, and Orlie and Mary Lambright of Topeka.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, July 25, at the Larry Miller residence, 0330 E. C.R. 200S, LaGrange.

TOPEKA - Jenna Faith Mast, stillborn, daughter of Earl C. and Esther (Lambright) Mast, of Topeka was delivered at 5:13 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at Goshen Health Hospital.
Survivors in addition to her parents are a brother, Evan Wade Mast, and a sister, Ila Grace Mast, both at home, grandparents, Richard and Carolyn Lambright, and Christy and Frieda Mast, all of Topeka; great-grandmothers, Mary Miller of Topeka and Mary Kathyrn Lambright of Shipshewana.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eric Jon Mast, and Jace Michael Mast.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in Honeyville Cemetery, Topeka.

She was born Dec. 23, 1950 to Joseph L. and Martha (Byler) Byler.
She married Eli Mast; he survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Martha (Jonathan) Byler and Ella (Jonathan) Kemph; sons, Daniel (Katie) Mast, Aaron (Marlene) Mast, and Norman Mast; 27 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; sister, Ella Byler; brothers, Gideon (Lizzie) Byler, Adam (Nancy) Byler, Dan (Soloma) Byler, Aaron (Sadie) Byler; brother-in-law, Jacob Mast; sister-in-law, Sarah Byler.
She was preceded in death by parents; daughter, Leah Mast; sister, Lena Mast; brother, Phineas Byler.

She was born Oct. 30, 1959, to Elmer L. and Sarah (Lantz) Mast.
Survivors include her mother; sisters Sharon Kay Mast, Brenda Donat, Linda Santos, Cindy Simmons and Charity Birky; brothers Elmer J. Mast, Dave M., Steve, John, Sam and Grant Lantz; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer L. Mast, brother Harold Dale Lantz and stepfather Harold D. Lantz.
She was a member of Townline Mennonite Church.

Mast, Ruthann Stoltzfus, 37, of Cuba, Missouri went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 4:00 pm at the Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, Indiana. She was born August 23, 1980 in Narvon, Pennsylvania to Jonathan and Linda Stoltzfus of Hooversville, Pennsylvania.
After a ten-month battle with cancer, she left behind and will be greatly missed by her husband, Nathan Mast of almost fifteen years, and family, Austin (12), Travis (10), Brittney (8), Trevor (5), Colton (3) and Tyrell (6 months). Also surviving are five brothers and four sisters, Luke and wife Cheryl Stoltzfus of Stratford, Wisconsin, Matthew and wife Sylvia Stoltzfus of Marshfield, Wisconsin, Timothy and wife Kimberly Stoltzfus of Friedens, Pennsylvania, Betty and husband Micah Brubaker of Commodore, Pennsylvania, Esther and husband Dan Miller of Friedens, Pennsylvania, Rhoda Stoltzfus of Hooversville, Pennsylvania, John and wife Florinda Stoltzfus of Loyal, Wisconsin, Jemima Stoltzfus of Hooversville, Pennsylvania and Mahlon Stoltzfus of Hooversville, Pennsylvania and a host of other family and friends.

NAPPANEE - Wilma L. Mast, 82, of Nappanee, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018, at her residence after a five-month illness.
She was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Bremen to Levi M. and Edna J. (Yoder) Kuhns.
On Aug. 21, 2002, she married Henry A. Mast in Nappanee. He survives, along with stepchildren, Levi (Sara) Mast, Samuel (Martha) Mast and Miriam (Lyle) Stutzman, all of Nappanee, David (Pauline) Mast of Bremen and Katie Marie (Mikel) Schrock of Arthur, Illinois; 26 step-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers Ivan Kuhns and Edwin (Lydia Ann) Kuhns, both of Nappanee, and Menno (Lizzie) Kuhns of Drakesville, Iowa; sisters Fannie (Albert) Miller of Nappanee, Carrie (Andrew) Hochstetler of LaGrange, Lizzie (Vernon) Bontrager of Mio, Michigan; sisters-in-law Ella Kuhns of Bremen, Lydia Kuhns of Nappanee, Polly Kuhns of Dunnegan, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jonas, Omar, Lester and Manasses and sister-in-law Susie Kuhns.
Mrs. Mast was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and taught school for many years.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, also at Levi Mast’s home. Bishop Leon Miller and the Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate. Burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.

Maust, Evelyn Juanita Brunk, 96, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at her home. Evelyn was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of the late Elmer R. Brunk and Nannie Blosser Brunk.
Evelyn had a long career as a nurse. After graduating as a registered nurse from Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and Eastern Mennonite College, she worked in the RMH operating room and the pediatrics unit, and also as school nurse at EMC. She was a charter member of Park View Mennonite Church, faithfully attending until recently when her declining health prevented her from doing so.
She loved family vacations, having visited all 50 U.S. states. Evelyn traveled internationally to many countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, and also to New Zealand, Australia, Egypt, and Israel, often to visit family living overseas. She was well known for her vegetable and flower garden adjacent the EMU campus, where she lived in the house she and Earl built in 1948. Evelyn enjoyed playing board and card games with friends and family, and faithfully served in the Park View Mennonite Church sewing circle, working on projects to support many causes worldwide. She spent a year as a Mennonite Central Committee (MCC, Akron, Pa.) volunteer and later several weeks in Reedly, Calif. She also volunteered as camp nurse at Spruce Lake Retreat in Pennsylvania, occasionally. She gave many hundreds of hours locally volunteering at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, MCC Gift and Thrift and Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.
Although a nurse by profession, Evelyn was a homemaker par excellence. She maintained an immaculate home and pieced quilts and knit or crocheted dozens of afghans for family and for the annual Virginia Mennonite Relief Sale. Spending many loving hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a highlight of her senior years.
On March 16, 1946, she married Earl M. Maust, who preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1969.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Maust and wife, Gretchen, of Keezletown, and Dennis Maust and wife, Rachel Hess, of Lititz, Pa.; grandchildren, Adam Sensamaust and wife, Sarah, of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, West Africa, Amanda Maust Khalil and husband, Khodr, of Richmond, Va., Annika Maust Michael and husband, Luke, of Harrisonburg, Theodore Maust of Philadelphia, Pa., and Justine Maust of Vienna, Austria; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte Sensamaust, Anaïs Sensamaust, and Sabine Sensamaust.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Moyers and Maude Good.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 11, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Park View Mennonite Church in the fellowship room.
Burial will be held privately at Weavers Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held July 28, 2018. Time and location will be announced at a later date.

Maust, Evelyn Juanita Brunk, 96, of Harrisonburg, VA died May 9, 2018 at the same place. She was born December 2, 1921 at Harrisonburg, VA to . On March 16, 1946 she was married to Earl M. Maust, who died September 9, 1969.

She was born March 30, 1947, in Goshen, to John and Dorothy (Blough) Mecum.
Survivors include a sister, Stella Robertson of Antioch, California and a brother, Hubert (Judy) Mecum of Meadow Vista, California.
A lifetime area resident, Patricia was a member of College Mennonite Church where she was a part of the Shalom Bell Ringers.
She was a member of Kiwanis Aktion Club.
She worked at ADEC and as a live-in housekeeper in Milford, Bremen and Mishawaka.
She enjoyed volunteering at World Missionary Press.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
A 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, funeral service will be in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church, followed by a luncheon and then a 2 p.m. burial in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.

Mecum, Patricia J., 71, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died October 19, 2018 at the same place. She was born March 30, 1947 at Goshen to John and Dorothy (Blough) Mecum.

Having grown up in Middlebury, Patricia was a member of College Mennonite Church where she was a part of the Shalom Bell Ringers. She had also attended the evening services of Faith Mennonite Church in Goshen. Earlier she worked as a live-in housekeeper in Milford, Bremen, and Mishawaka. While living at Goldenrod, she worked at ADEC, the Goldenrod Gardens in Middlebury, and was a member of the Kiwanis Aktion Club. She also enjoyed volunteering at the World Missionary Press in New Paris.
Michels, Delphine Yoder, 66, of Quakertown, Bucks Co., PA died June 8, 2018 at the same place. She was born March 30, 1952 at Sellersville, Bucks Co., PA to Clyde A. and Lydia (Detweiler) Yoder.
Surviving are her father born Aug. 9, 1930; step-mother, Gladys (Alderfer) (Moyer) Yoder; and siblings, Sandra Horst and her husband Gale, Gladys Brand and her husband Alan, Dean Yoder, step-brother, Brent Moyer, step-sister, Coleen Bishop and her husband David, step-sister, Janet Bartholomew and her husband Michael, and sister in law, Debbie Yoder.
Her mother, brother, Galen C. Yoder and step sister-in-law, Gloria Moyer preceded her in death.
